What I Do Best
Link Issues, Sectors & Equity
My favorite annual project is analyzing results of our staff-wide questionnaire on diversity, equity, inclusion, and organizational culture. I facilitate tough conversations to get people on the same page and working well together.
I’ve spent years learning what makes different sectors tick and have helped coalitions figure out how to achieve their goals and advance equity locally. To guide their efforts, I created Multi-Sector Partnerships for Preventing Violence.
Manage Projects & Lead Teams
I create systems that keep programs running smoothly and invest in buiding relationships across internal teams. I enjoy mobilizing my team to step up to new challenges, and our pandemic-era efforts meant zero COVID-19 outbreaks at work, hooray!
Colleagues have called me Mr. Wolf, the fixer in Pulp Fiction, because I've gotten several stymied projects back on track, such as Complete Parks.
Run a Peer Learning Network
I've seen firsthand the power of a learning community; it's why I focus on process and relationships to achieve outstanding, sustainable results.
When colleagues told me that the formal steps to report harmful interactions were intimidating, I co-led an effort to create an alternative process. We recruited a diverse group of staff members to help their peers directly resolve work challenges or escalate as appropriate, and supported this group in building their skills along the way.
Present, Train & Facilitate
I honed my public speaking chops as a park ranger, and I am often praised for my natural, approachable style. I've delivered dozens of presentations and training workshops, and participants say I am dynamic and engaging.
In my People & Culture role, I lead annual training events on topics such as promotion, performance appraisal and competencies, so people know what's expected of them and our processes are transparent.
